Best AI Food Scanner ("the app") helps you decide whether a packaged food fits your personal dietary rules. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

What we collect

• Account information. Your email address (or the account identifier provided by Sign in with Apple or Google) and an internal user ID, used to sign you in and keep your data attached to your account.
• Your dietary profile. The rules you add (e.g. "dairy", "peanuts"), your "I'll eat this / I won't" decisions and optional reasons, and a short learned summary of your preferences.
• Scans and chats. The barcodes you scan, the verdicts you receive, and the messages you exchange with the in-app coach.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and the app contains no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

How we use it

• To check scanned products against your rules and generate your verdict.
• To personalize future verdicts and coach answers (the app "remembers" what you will and won't eat).
• To operate, debug, and secure the service.

Where it goes

• Google Cloud / Firebase. Authentication and data storage (Firestore) and our backend (Cloud Run) run on Google Cloud in the United States.
• Open Food Facts. When you scan, the barcode is sent to the Open Food Facts database to look up the product. No personal information is included in that request.
• AI processing. Product details and the relevant parts of your dietary profile are sent to our AI provider to generate the verdict and coach replies. This data is not used to train third-party models under our provider agreements.

We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Deleting your data

In the app, go to Rules → Delete my data. This permanently removes your rules, learned preferences, scan history, and chats. Your login remains so you can start fresh; to delete the login itself, or for any other request, email us and we'll take care of it within 30 days.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
