HappyRobot is a serious product aimed at the enterprise end of freight. If you are a small or mid-size brokerage, the question is usually not whether it works, it is whether you are the customer they are built for. Here is an honest comparison.
Before you switch
A call that ends in an email your team has to re-key is not automation. Ask which endpoints it writes to and see it happen live.
Per-minute and per-call pricing charges you most for exactly the calls you most want automated. Flat monthly does not.
Self-serve platforms hand you a builder and wish you luck. Done-for-you means someone who has read your TMS docs sets it up.
The complaint carriers have about AI phone agents is being trapped. Fast, context-rich transfer matters more than a high containment number.
Nobody in this category publishes pricing, so this compares structure and fit rather than dollars. Ask every vendor how they bill, and ask what lands in your TMS after the call.
| Option | Built for | Integration approach | Billing model |
|---|---|---|---|
| HappyRobot | Enterprise brokerages and carriers with high call volume | Platform integrations, configured by your team | Quote-based, not published |
| Everyday Software | Small and mid-size brokerages that want it built for them | Custom API work against your specific TMS, done for you | Flat monthly, no per-minute meter |
| FleetWorks | Brokerages focused on carrier call volume | Platform, carrier-call focused | Quote-based, not published |
| Answering service | Anyone who only needs a message taken | None, no system access | Per minute or per call |
Freight-native AI agents handling operational communication, venture-backed, and clearly built for scale. If you have thousands of loads a month and an internal owner for the platform, it belongs on your shortlist.
Where it wins
What to check first
Verdict: Excellent if you are their target customer. Ask early and directly whether you are.
We build the agent for your brokerage: your TMS, your call scripts, your escalation rules, wired by hand and maintained by the person who built it. Flat monthly, and we start with one workflow rather than a platform rollout.
Where it wins
What to check first
Verdict: The better fit if you are under enterprise scale and want the integration done for you rather than handed to you.
We are not going to pretend a well-funded freight AI platform is a bad product. It is not. There are clear cases where it is the right answer and we will tell you on the call.
We cannot honestly answer that, because HappyRobot does not publish pricing and neither of us would be comparing the same scope. What we can tell you is our structure: flat monthly, scoped to your call volume and workflows, with no per-minute billing. Get their number and compare it against ours on the same workflows.
On breadth, possibly. On the specific workflows you actually run, usually not, because we build those to fit rather than configuring them in a generic builder. The honest tradeoff is platform breadth versus custom fit and direct access to the engineer.
The work is in re-mapping your TMS integration and rewriting the call flows, which is a week or two of our time, not yours. Your numbers do not change and your TMS credentials stay yours. Ask any vendor what you keep when you leave.
Carrier sales calls, check calls, after-hours dispatch, POD chasing, and appointment confirmations are all standard for us. If you have a workflow we cannot do well, we will tell you on the demo rather than after you sign.
Run them on different call types or different hours. We are happy to prove ourselves on after-hours coverage or on check calls while you evaluate someone else on carrier sales, and that is a genuinely useful way to compare.
What we build: carrier sales, check calls, after-hours dispatch, written into your TMS.
